The project began by testing the Seebeck effect —with a dismantled mini-fridge— and, when that cooling did not perform in tests, moved to a refrigerant fluid. It closed in 2018 by validating a panel-cleaning agent at the La Moneda plant: the cleaning and maintenance line with which SolarPro started its services.

AtaMoS-TeC: solar technology for the desert
A technology consortium led by Universidad de Antofagasta, with CEA-INES (France), ISC Konstanz (Germany) and Fraunhofer Chile, developing PV technology for the desert. Four of the companies Carlos Jofré founded or co-founded are listed among its participants, and in 2018 industry elected him to its transitional board.
CORFO committed CLP 7,800,000,000 to the program (Programa Tecnológico Estratégico, 2017). Companies listed as participants: Ecoenergías, Solar Fuel, Resol, SolarPro. It is a consortium grant, so it is not added to the totals above.
In May 2017, in the two weeks before the proposal —prepared by SERC Chile, with the University of Antofagasta as beneficiary— was submitted, Carlos Jofré worked with SERC’s team to bring industry on board: he gathered commitment letters from fourteen SMEs and technology start-ups as associate companies and proposed projects from his companies for the work packages. After CORFO’s approval he coordinated that group of companies in the initial stage, and in 2018 industry unanimously elected him one of its three representatives on the transitional board.
Total program cost under the CORFO agreement: CLP 13,748,191,580.

Method and sources
How these figures were built
Amounts in nominal Chilean pesos. «CORFO contribution» is the awarded amount per DataInnovación (InnovaChile database, data as of July 2026) and the actual CORFO cost field of CORFO’s Digital Repository.
Transfer dates are the decree dates published by the Law 19.862 registry, not necessarily the day of payment.
Seed grants (Capital Semilla and Semilla Expande) are paid through an intermediary institution, so they are not direct transfers to the company.
For Red Mercados only the advance paid directly to SolarPro is counted; the collective program received a larger CORFO contribution, managed by the operating agent.
Each project’s targets (for example +10% generation or 85% recovery) are the objectives stated in the application, not measured results.
«Year» is the award year in DataInnovación; for projects not in DataInnovación (Capital Semilla, Semilla Expande and Red Mercados) it is the call or committee year recorded in the Digital Repository.

Through Laboratorio Solar he has prepared more than 100 applications since 2014; awards with his documented role include six CORFO projects of client companies (CLP 148 million), two of DESOL, a Laboratorio Solar spin-off (CLP 23.6 million), and two ANID Startup Ciencia projects. He advises companies on energy-innovation projects for CORFO: choice of instrument, technical write-up, budget and pitch. Fees start at CLP 1,000,000 plus 10% of the capital raised. No one can guarantee an award: CORFO decides.
Have an energy project that could qualify for CORFO?
Carlos helps companies choose the instrument, write the project and prepare the pitch.
